Services Manager

 

Hours: 37.5 hours p/w including one late evening.

 

Salary: £48,526 (mid-point Band 7 Agenda for Change comparable).

 

Contract type: Permanent subject to a successful probationary period.

 

Location: Sunderland Counselling Service, 51 John Street, Sunderland.

 

Sunderland Counselling Service (SCS) is seeking to recruit a full-time Services Manager to help extend the well-established and supportive senior management team of an independent mental health charity and company limited by guarantee. SCS provides a range of services across the North East region offering psychological therapies including counselling and cognitive behavioural therapies to children and adults, as well as access to wrap around support to help support people with mental health difficulties.

 

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Services and another Services Manager to co-ordinate the delivery, monitoring and staff support and leadership across the organisation and deputise for the Head of Services where required.

 

The post holder will have operational responsibility for elements of the adult counselling services delivered by SCS and have  specific managerial responsibilities within the wider range of services delivered by Sunderland Counselling Service. They will support the coordination of operational matters relating to our provision of services, including marketing, premises, health and safety, IT systems and human resources and similarly ensure that any issues relating to volunteer counsellors within the organisation are managed in an appropriate way.

 

We expect they will liaise closely with other members of SCS Senior Management Team to help support recruitment, training, management and supervision of volunteer and salaried counsellors and in turn will be well supported themselves.

 

We are looking for somebody who has experience of leading and motivating teams of people, including providing effective line management and leading and delivering HR support to staff members, who has knowledge of talking therapies and has the ability to lead and motivate others to achieve excellence. Applicants must have a suitable and relevant qualification in leadership / management and leadership experience within services which are customer facing and customer focussed.

Community Treatment Team Counsellor

 

Hours: 37.5 hours p/w which may include evening work

Salary: £37,338 per annum (Band 6 NHS Agenda for Change comparable)

Contract type: Permanent. 

Location: South Tyneside Community Treatment Team Base.

 

Sunderland Counselling Service (SCS) is delighted to be employing two full-time counsellors to work within the Community Treatment Team, known as CTT. The CTT offers secondary care mental health interventions provided by Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear (CNTW) across South Tyneside and Sunderland. Clients are likely to have a diagnosable mental health condition and be in receipt of support from the wider CTT. The postholder will be expected to work closely with colleagues within this service and others, to ensure clients receive the most effective therapeutic intervention for their presenting need(s) and will play an active role in regular multi-disciplinary team meetings within the CTT to identify counselling suitable clients.

 

The post holders will be expected to provide assessments, check in phone calls and offer time-limited counselling to adults with a wide range of issues.  Up to twenty session of counselling will be offered to clients and include work on areas such as anxiety, depression, low mood, complex grief and loss, relationship issues, loss of confidence, emotional distress, historic abuse and wellbeing issues.

 

The post holders will be expected to be based predominantly within the South Tyneside Team, although some travel to bases in Sunderland may also be required, to ensure clients receive the most effective therapeutic intervention for their presenting need(s). There may also be some home visits and lone working within this post.

 

The counsellor will be employed on a permanent contract, subject to the completion of a successful probationary period, and employed on SCS terms and conditions.

 

The post holders will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

 

The salary for this post is £37,338 which is equivalent to Band 6 Agenda for Change and the terms and conditions of employment are provided by Sunderland Counselling Service. This includes 30 days annual leave per year, plus bank holidays, access to the organisation pension scheme and our free and confidential employee assistance programme, cycle to work scheme and a health programme.

Talking Therapies (Step 3 Counsellor) – Talking Therapies for County Durham and Darlington

 

Post Title: Talking Therapies Step 3 Counsellor  

                                     

Salary:  AfC Band 7 comparable (£46,148) if Counselling for Depression qualified and  accredited / AfC Band 6 comparable (£37,338) if CfD trained only and accredited

                                     

Responsible to: Talking Therapies County Durham and Darlington Team Manager / Service Manager

                                     

Accountable to:  Talking Therapies County Durham and Darlington Senior Therapist / Clinical Lead

                                     

Location: Talking Therapies bases in County Durham and Darlington 

 

Hours:  Part-time (30 hours per week) including a minimum of one evening per week

 

Working as part of the NHS Talking Therapies Service for Anxiety and Depression County Durham and Darlington, we are seeking to appoint a counsellor who will offer Person-Centred Counselling for Depression (CfD) for clients with mild to moderate mental health concerns.

 

The post holder will be employed by Sunderland Counselling Service (SCS) and work with colleagues across the wider Talking Therapies Team.  They will provide Talking Therapies compliant, time limited, individual therapy to adults referred to the service. This will be provided either face to face, over the phone or using a video function and adhere to session limits and models defined by the service. The Counsellor will operate from Talking Therapies bases in County Durham and Darlington, specifically those in the Derwentside area; however, the post holder may be expected to offer face to face sessions throughout the Service bases in County Durham and Darlington according to service requirements. Whilst we anticipate this role will largely be delivered in person, there may be opportunities to offer remote therapy and therefore the post holder may be required to work confidentially from home.

 

This is a part-time position (30 hours) and will involve a minimum of one evening per week and will be offered on a permanent basis, subject to the successful completion of a six-month probationary period.

 

The salary for this post is equivalent to Band 7 agenda for change for candidates who are BACP accredited or equivalent and who hold a Counselling for Depression qualification. Terms and conditions of this post are provided by SCS. This includes 30 days annual leave per year, pension scheme and access to a free and confidential employee assistance programme and a health programme.

 

We welcome applications from accredited counsellors who have completed, but are not yet qualified, in CfD who would be paid at a band 6 equivalent or accredited counsellors willing to undertake Counselling for Depression training. Again, the remuneration for this post would be equivalent to a band 6, agenda for change salary. We will also consider applications from counsellors trained but not yet qualified in CfD who can demonstrate they are working towards their accreditation.  In this instance, a candidate would be paid the comparable salary to a mid-point band 5 (£32,324) AfC salary.

 

The successful candidate will be qualified to Degree, MSc, MA, or Diploma level in Counselling as well as qualified in an Talking Therapies compliant form of counselling therapy, specifically Counselling for Depression.  We require therapists who can complete comprehensive assessments for clients referred to the service to determine their therapeutic and other support needs. The successful counsellor will demonstrate how they develop realistic treatment goals with a client and successfully encourage and support them in using the service, to enable them to address and manage the issues and associated problems that are affecting their mental and emotional well-being.
