Our Values
As defined in our charitable objectives Sunderland Counselling Service exists to relieve suffering and distress through the provision of counselling and psychological therapy services.
Our Mission Statement
Counselling services are informed by a person centred philosophy where clients set the agenda and pace of the counselling intervention. Key to counselling are the qualities of empathy, acceptance and congruence.
For Professionals
We are transparent when providing information. We maintain standards and guidance in line with the BACP – British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy when providing counselling and other therapeutic services.

Our Team
Our team is based across the North East region, led by our CEO and supported by our team of trustees who provide a wealth of experience from a variety of sectors.
Our staff all work together and share the goals and values of our organisation, they support each other, have many complimentary talents and are focused on supporting our clients delivering a confidential, impartial and high quality service to those in need.
We’re proud to have a deeply experienced and credible team, with a unifying style to engage with our community and partners.
Our Trustees
Trusteeship as being responsible to all staff, volunteers and users of our services, which is, managing their health, safety and welfare; ensuring the managing of resources by understanding the financial implication of every decision we make. And for the Trustees to work collectively as a group.
Quality Endorsements
Our commitment to quality assurance and continual improvement is fundamental to our organisation.
We have independent endorsements throughout our organisation, including quality standards and accreditation's. We have implemented this throughout our charity and partner organisations delivering effective counselling and support throughout our community and North East region
